The Julangan Titah Pasar Pelbagai Barangan Gadong project is a result of the direct intervention of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam. Julangan Titah manifests the care, concern and love of His Majesty over the lives and welfare of his people.
In response to the issues raised by the vendors at the previous Gadong Night Market due to its initial location, His Majesty through His Majesty’s Office constructed the Pasar Pelbagai Gadong in hopes of easing their concerns.
The new and modern facilities, combined with a more ideal location, demonstrates the foresight and benevolence of His Majesty in pre-empting future business issues, boosting revenues for the vendors, and ultimately ensuring a thriving business ecosystem as one of the kingdom’s traditional landmarks.
Located within sight of the golden domes of the Jame Asr Mosque, Pasar Pelbagai Barangan is one of the Sultanate’s traditional landmarks. The night market has been providing locals and foreigners alike with local delicacies and fresh produce along with clothing and other merchandise since 1970.
As a lead effort by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, this night market has been given a fresh breath of life to provide comfort and convenience; as an answer to the issues faced by vendors and to nurture the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises through one of the Sultanate’s cultural landmarks.
The 5,979 square metre facility, launched in early February 2017, houses 150 passionate local vendors that features an indoor wide walkway between stalls, equipped with great facilities and is able to accommodate heavy foot traffic. Muslims can also fulfil their religious obligations comfortably in the specially built surau adjacent to the market.
The Pasar Pelbagai Barangan Gadong is Brunei’s most popular night market and aspires to be a top landmark for both locals and also tourists.
